CELEBRATING JOYCE JUAN MANALO

Don’t Call Me Ate

Sunday, October 15th, 2023

Joyce Juan-Manalo will be forever remembered for her integral role in shaping and strengthening Filipin@ arts and culture in San Francisco and beyond. Please join us in celebrating her life, love, and no-bullshit humor in an afternoon of music, comedy, theater, and creativity.

All tickets purchased for Chokit’s Playlist at Bindlestiff Studio are tax-deductible. Proceeds and donations will go towards the Joyce Juan-Manalo Legacy Fund for Pinay Artists. Admission to The Blue Gayuma art fair pop-up is free.

Blue Gayuma

1130 - 3p at ARC Gallery
1246 Folsom Street

Blue Gayuma is the name of a gift boutique Joyce opened in Manila back in 2005. She filled the store with artwork she created for sale including pottery, jewelry, handbags, purses, and flowers. Her brother Boni, also an artist, sold his wooden sculptures, epic birdhouses, and paintings.

We honor Joyce’s creative spirit by re-staging a Blue Guyuma art fair pop-up in support of Bay Area Pinay artisans selling their creations. The afternoon will also feature DIY demos and a scintillating talk about Original Pilipino Music you will not want to miss.

Chokit’s Playlist

3 - 7p at Bindlestiff Studio
185 Sixth Street

Bindlestiff Studio is where Joyce produced so many memorable shows including the Tagalog festival of plays she co-created with Lorna Velasco. Join us in celebrating her love of music, comedy, and theater with a stellar line-up headlined by Chicken Joy.ce and the Granny Cart Gangstas.

“Chokit” is an endearing nickname given to Joyce by her father who passed away when she was only 9 years old. Whenever she wanted her dad to buy her chocolate, she would ask for “chokit”!
